Product descriptionVarnish is a clear transparent hard protective coating or film. It is not to be confused with wood stain. It usually has a yellowish shade due to the manufacturing process and materials used, but it may also be pigmented as desired. It is sold commercially in various shades. Varnish is primarily used as a wood finish [1] where, stained or not, the distinctive tones and grains in the wood are intended to be visible. Varnish finishes are naturally glossy, but satin/semi-gloss and flat sheens are available

  • Surfaces must be dry, clean and free from contaminants
  • ensure removal of dirt, dust, oil and all other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion of the coating. oil and grease should be removed.
Application: Applying Varnish to Wood
  • Brush varnish lightly onto your wood. Dip just the tip of your brush into the varnish-thinner mixture, and gently apply it to your piece.
  • Tip off while the varnish is still wet.
  • Apply two thin coats of varnish, then sand and apply another.
